Insights from the EU-Funded Countering Foreign Interference (CFI) Africa Forum, Dakar”
The Executive Director of INTRAPID had the privilege of joining distinguished researchers, academics, civil society actors, investigative journalists, and experts between February 10 and 11, at the inaugural Africa Forum of the EU-funded Countering Foreign Interference (CFI) project in Dakar, Senegal.
The CFI project, implemented in partnership with the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) and in close coordination with the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), is designed to enhance stakeholders’ capacities to prevent, deter, and respond effectively to threats in the information space.
The event served as a collaborative forum for brainstorming and peer-to-peer exchange on the essential role of independent research in examining disinformation trends, local socio-political dynamics, and media ecosystems, while identifying and tackling key barriers.
At the heart of this interactive workshop were discussions on response mechanisms, policy frameworks, and the development of shared and tailored methodologies, all aimed at advancing collaboration, deepening knowledge exchange, and promoting evidence-driven solutions to reinforce resilience against information threats.
